The wires in the drivers door feed BOTH mirrors, so swapping those swap BOTH mirrors!!! No wonder we were getting nowhere fast.

I did ask if they were the correct wires. I should have been more persistent and followed it up.

Yes, that was what I was misunderstanding. They were the right wires, but the wrong place to swap them as it were. They did run right across the car to the other mirror. So every time we swapped, it did reverse the direction of the passenger mirror. What I failed to twig was the same wires were also spliced off to go to the drivers mirror so we swapped that too keeping them out of sync. So swapping those wires at either mirror would work, but never at the switch, as it swapped both mirrors.
